Eric Bailly could receive six-game ban for tackle that hospitalised opponent
RMC Sport are reporting that Olympique de Marseille centre-back Eric Bailly (28) could receive up to a six-game ban for a tackle which hospitalised his opponent on Saturday.
Bailly saw a straight red card for the Nigel De Jong-esque challenge on Hyères 83 Football Club’s Almike Moussa N’Diaye, which saw the player admitted into intensive care, as a precaution. Despite his early expulsion from the fixture, Marseille got the job done, beating their Coupe de France’s opponents 2-0 thanks to goals from Bamba Dieng and Alexis Sanchez.
According to RMC Sport, Bailly, on loan at Les Phocéens from Manchester United, could face a heavy punishment. The French publication have reported that the Ivory Coast international risks a 4-6 game ban for the tackle. Should he receive the most severe sanction, he would miss key matches against AS Monaco and FC Lorient, who currently occupy 5th and 6th place in Ligue 1.
