Yaya Toure sent off for kicking out at opponent in first minute of Qingdao Huanghai’s final match of China League One season
The former Manchester City and Barcelona midfielder received a red card while playing for the club against Nantong Zhiyun.
Toure was penalised for kicking out against his opponent.
After consulting VAR, the referee gave the 36-year-old his third career red card. His last came for City in November 2014 in the Champions League against CSKA Moscow.
His side went on to lose the match 2-1 thanks to Mladen Kovacevic’s second half double and it ended their seven-game unbeaten streak.
Despite the loss, Qingdao Huanghai went on to lift the League One title and will be in the Chinese Super League next season.
Toure left Olympiacos by mutual consent in December 2018 and it had been reported that he would be retiring from football.
