How Chelsea could line up for Boxing Day clash against Southampton – will Frank Lampard go back to 4-3-3 system?

The good mood reached a new high on Sunday as the Blues put in arguably their best performance of the season when they won at Tottenham.

It was something of a surprise victory given Chelsea had lost four of their last five before the game, while Spurs had won four of their last five under Jose Mourinho.

But two first-half goals from Willian sealed the 2-0 win in a game that was unfortunately overshadowed by racial abuse Blues defender Antonio Rudiger and Spurs forward Heung-Min Son allegedly received.

Lampard outwitted his former boss, deciding to adopt a 3-4-2-1 system instead of the 4-3-3 formation Chelsea usually use.

It was the first time Chelsea had started with a three-man defence in any competition since October 2 so it would be a surprise if Lampard persevered with it for their clash at home to Southampton on Boxing Day.
