Hull City manager Grant McCann makes extraordinary claims about treatment by Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough

McCann claims he was made to park ten minutes from the ground and all the plugs were turned off in the changing room.

Hull won the match 1-0 at Hillsborough with Jarrod Bowen scoring the only goal of the game.

“Sheffield Wednesday tried to knock us, even when we got to the stadium,” McCann told talkSPORT. “Made me park ten minutes away in my car, which was strange, and turned all the plugs off in the changing room so we couldn’t listen to music.

“These things are here to test you and they didn’t default us. We got our head down and worked hard.

“It’s a bit strange. Usually any manager coming to our stadium parks in front. It is what it is. I’m used to seeing things like this in football.

“No not really (happened before). I don’t want to take anything away from the football. There were a lot of things before the game to put us off. The hospitality here today wasn’t very good. The stewards were arguing with my staff before the game over plugs. It was ridiculous to be honest with you. It is what it is and we focused on the football and got the job done.

“If you come to the KCOM you couldn’t be more looked after. I just find it really sad to be honest with you that people can do that to opposition teams.”

Despite the issues before kick-off, McCann was pleased with his side’s performance as Bowen grabbed his 16th goal of the season.

That win lifts Hull up to eighth in the Championship and just a point off the play-off places.

McCann said: “I thought we controlled large parts of the game. One or two scary moments at the end when the ball flashed across our goal or maybe a set play.

“Apart from that we were in control and deserved to win the game. We looked dangerous when we went forward and we had some good opportunities.

“I felt it was a good goal. I was really pleased because it was something we thought may be an Achilles heel. Maybe cut backs in those areas would give us a chance to score and I was pleased for George Honeyman.

“It was a great bit of skill from him and a tremendous ball across and who else but Jarrod Bowen to be in that area to finish it off.”
