Torino interested in €3m Falaye Sacko

As reported by Foot Mercato, former Saint-Étienne defender Falaye Sacko is interesting Torino this summer after his loan with the French club ended following Les Verts relegation to Ligue 2.

Initially signed as a right-back, the 27-year-old Malian international (24 caps and one goal) excelled on the right side of a three man defence before injury meant he missed seven games this spring, only one of which Saint-Étienne won while conceding 23 goals in the process.

Torino would need to pay Sacko’s parent club, Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimarães, around €3m to secure his services.

Sacko made 11 outings for Les Verts this season, without scoring, assisting or being booked at all. He did return from injury in time for the relegation play-off tie with Auxerre but lasted less than an hour in both games as ASSE eventually lost on penalties, much to the ire of the club’s fans who launched a barrage of flares at their players having invaded the pitch on full time.

Laurent Batlles was announced as the new manager of Saint-Étienne last week after Pascal Dupraz left following the loss to Auxerre.
