Igor Tudor: “There are few players like Jonathan Clauss in the world in his position.”

Ahead of Marseille’s fixture against Lens at the weekend, manager Igor Tudor was full of praise for wing-back Jonathan Clauss (30). 

Clauss signed for Marseille from Lens this summer for a fee believed to be around €7m. He has quickly established himself as a starter at his new club, whilst also consolidating his place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad ahead of the World Cup next month. 

Going into gameweek 12, Lens are ahead of Marseille in the table. Clauss is preparing to face his side for the first time, and his current manager sang his praises pre-match. “He [Clauss] has adapted very quickly. He has adapted to playing every three/four days. I can only speak highly of him. There are few players in the world like him in his position (right wing-back),” said Tudor.

He continued, “It is a privilege to have him with us. He is a good guy and I hope he will continue in this way and have a good World Cup.”
