Inter call time on Milan Škriniar talks with PSG following Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s intervention
L’Équipe report this morning that Paris Saint-Germain’s chances of signing Slovakian defender Milan Škriniar are now very slim, after Inter pulled the plug on negotiations after two offers.
PSG had agreed terms in principle with the centre-back as early as two months ago, but have seen the transfer drag on as the Nerazzurri hold firm in their valuation of the player.
The Ligue 1 champions’ first offer consisted of a package including a €50m transfer fee plus a player, with bid number two upping the amount to €55m, which was also turned down.
Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, in the face of Inter’s unwillingness to budge, sought to intervene. However, the fact that he told the Serie A club that the defender would end up coming to Paris anyway at the end of his contract – which expires next summer – was interpreted as a threat by Inter, who have now called time on negotiations.

As a result, the 27-year-old is set to continue into his sixth season with the club. Inter president Steven Zhang has said that the centre-half would not be leaving and could even extend his deal. However, PSG are retaining hope and are preparing a new €60m plus a player offer, which is unlikely to be accepted.
