PSG open talks with Mohamed Simakan as focus switches from Milan Škriniar

As reported by L’Équipe, PSG are considering switching their focus in their pursuit of a new centre-back to RB Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan this summer.

PSG have spent the off-season trying to find a deal with Inter Milan over a move for Slovakian defender Milan Škriniar. The deal remains up in the air with Inter demanding €70m for the player amid reports he could yet extend his deal with the Italian club. Other outlets suggest that PSG remain confident over a deal before the end of the window, however.

Although the sports daily say Škriniar remains the number one target, Paris are aware they could be left short at the back should others like Thilo Kehrer and Abdou Diallo be sold with Škriniar’s arrival far from certain. As a result, the 22-year-old former Strasbourg man has been targeted as an alternative and talks are already underway over a move.

Leipzig, however, value the Frenchman at €40m and are not totally against selling the defender despite four years remaining on his deal in Germany. PSG could also include players in any potential deal as part-exchange.
