Man handed prison sentenced for pretending to be PSG player to avoid hotel bill

Ouest-France report today that a man in Normandy has been handed a two-month prison sentence for pretending to be a Paris Saint-Germain player in order to avoid paying a hotel bill.

The 28-year-old’s trial in Lisieux, for which he was absent, saw him accused of failing to pay for two nights he spent at a hotel, for a bill worth €227.4. The man already had 12 prior convictions.

Having come to watch the French youth cup match between Lisieux and PSG, which the visitors won 5-1, he introduced himself at the hotel reception as a member of the Parisian team. The incident took place on December 28, but has only just become public as a result of the trial.

On leaving, he gave a phone number to the receptionist, telling them to send the bill to his “agent” – the number would turn out to be fake.
