Reims president expects defender Wout Faes to leave this summer

In speaking with Europe 1, Stade Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot explained he expects Belgian centre-back Wout Faes to leave the Champagne club this summer.

His defensive partner, the 34-year-old Yunis Abdelhamid, meanwhile, is expected to sign a new two-year contract with the club, according to Caillot.

On Faes, Caillot said: “As it stands, he will be allowed to leave. He was supposed to do two years with us here at Stade de Reims, and he has. He’ll go and grow up elsewhere, he will move to another club. As we always anticipate everything, his replacement is practically sorted.”

The 24-year-old Faes joined the Ligue 1 club from Oostende in Belgium back in 2020.
