Marco Verratti handed suspension over referee comments

The LFP’s disciplinary commission has announced that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has been handed a one-game ban for his comments after the 3-1 loss to Nantes.

The ban also includes a suspended sanction covering another game. As it stands, he will miss the match against Bordeaux at home on March 13.

The Italian had reacted to several refereeing decisions across the match in the wake of the defeat:

“Usually a penalty is a yellow card, and in this case it would be a red card. How can you not give a yellow card? I think the referees need to take on their responsibilities because in this case we were s**t on by the refereeing.”
