Marco Verratti wants to leave PSG

Italian midfielder Marco Verratti has informed PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi and the club’s new Sporting Director Antero Henrique on separate occasions that he wants to leave the club this summer, according to L’Équipe.

Regardless of this, the current length of his contract and Al Khelaifi’s resolute desire to keep the Italian will mean that he is unlikely to be able to be allowed to leave.

A source close to the situation from the Verratti camp had the following to say:

“We have the feeling that PSG are behind in their own project, they have not been able to attract the big players since a year ago. It is not question of money, Marco has been here for five years, things are less clear. Today, the opportunity is presenting itself, we cannot let it go.”

Regardless of this statement, PSG intend to offer Marco Verratti a wage rise, in the face of intense interest from Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
