Jose Mourinho says Tottenham need to show ‘more intensity’ following Manchester United defeat

The defeat came at his former club Manchester United, almost a year after he was dismissed as manager of the Old Trafford club.

Spurs were beaten 2-1 with a brace from Marcus Rashford earning Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men the three points.

The home side were 1-0 up after six minutes when Rashford beat Paulo Gazzaniga at his near post after Jesse Lingard won the ball off Davinson Sanchez in a dangerous area.

Dele Alli’s excellent flick and finish brought Spurs level just before half time.

However, Rashford restored Man United’s lead on 49 minutes from the penalty spot after Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have clipped the England striker.

Mourinho actually took a knock early in the game when Daniel James clattered into him after Harry Winks’ flying challenge.

But the Spurs boss still believes his players could have shown more aggression and intensity.

He said: “I cannot say that I learned anything special. I know that this team needs to be more aggressive.

“We need to win more duels, we need to start the game with more intensity, we need to make the opponent feel what United made us feel.

“You need to make opponents feel that they are going to be in trouble and that we’re ready to go for it. And we didn’t.
