Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demands bans if fans found guilty of alleged racial abuse during Manchester derby

City said they are ‘aware of a video circulating on social media which appears to show a supporter making racial gestures’ during their match against United.

The Premier League champions also said they are ‘working with Greater Manchester Police in order to help them identify any individuals concerned’.

The alleged incident occurred in the second half of City’s 2-1 defeat at the Etihad as a supporter appeared to make a monkey gesture towards a United player.

And the Norwegian has issued a defiant response.

“It’s both Jesse and Fred in the corner, taking the corner,” Solskjaer told talkSPORT’s Dom McGuinness. “First of all, they get coins thrown at them.

“You can see the video; a not-so very intelligent fella with his racist chants there.

“So I hope City and the authorities will deal with it. Don’t let him in again – that’s my clear message, it’s unacceptable.

“We keep talking about it every… I want to say…every week! Every week we talk about this, you’ve got to stamp down on it.

“We try, we work on it, we speak about it and the only action is to get rid.”

The incident threatened to overshadow what was actually a tremendous performance by the travelling side.

The attacking quartet of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James were supplemented in behind by Lingard, whose performance will have gone some way to silencing his doubters.

And the Baby-Faced Assassin was quick to divert the gaze of the watching world back to his deserving troops.

“Dead proud of our coaches first of all, how they prepare the game,” he added.
