How Arsenal could line up in Europa League match against Standard Liege with progression in doubt and injury crisis

They had the opportunity in their fourth group game but conceded a late equaliser at Vitoria SC.

Arsenal were then beaten by Eintracht Frankfurt at the Emirates Stadium in what proved to be Unai Emery’s last game in charge of the Gunners.

But even after all this bad form, Arsenal are still in a good position to qualify ahead of their match at Standard Liege, needing just a point to guarantee finishing in the top two of their group.

A win will see the Gunners – currently managed by Freddie Ljungberg on an interim basis – finish top of Group F and also avoid being drawn against a Champions League drop out in the last 32.

Ljungberg got his first win as Gunners boss on Monday night as Arsenal ran out 3-1 winners at West Ham.

However, left-back Kieran Tierney sustained a dislocated shoulder in the match and is expected to be out for three months so Ljungberg will have to make changes for the match against the Belgian side.

Hector Bellerin was withdrawn from the line-up ahead of kick-off at West Ham with a tight hamstring and will not travel to Belgium, with his place against Manchester City on Sunday also in doubt.

Granit Xhaka suffered concussion after being struck by the ball and is definitely absent for both games.

Nicolas Pepe scored and provided an assist against West Ham but a bruised knee means he could miss Sunday’s game having already been ruled out of the Liege clash.

Meanwhile, Dani Ceballos remains sidelined with a hamstring issue and Arsenal also confirmed Rob Holding would be absent for around two weeks as he recovers from a minor knee complaint.

Shkodran Mustafi is suspended after picking up three yellow cards in the group stage.
