Man City played better against Manchester United than Arsenal, says Pep Guardiola

The Citizens were 3-0 up inside 40 minutes thanks to goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling.

And they could have added a fourth shortly before half-time, but De Bruyne saw his strike superbly tipped on to the crossbar by Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

City returned to winning ways in the Premier League after last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United.

However, Guardiola believes his side played better against United than Arsenal.

When asked if the thrashing of the Gunners was City’s best display in recent weeks, the Spaniard told talkSPORT: “No way. You analyse the result, your job is to analyse the result.

“One performance and so on, so we’ve played other games much, much better and couldn’t win.

“But of course, a win at Arsenal is good. You have the obligation to analyse more than the result.

“We won a game. We played better against United and unfortunately we couldn’t win.
