Darren Bent’s favourite Tottenham vs Chelsea moments and why the rivalry is so strong as Jose Mourinho prepares to face his old club

One of the picks of this weekend’s Premier League matches sees Spurs host the Blues in the latest chapter of their intense rivalry.

The spectacle has added spice to it with Jose Mourinho managing against his former club for the first time since being made Tottenham boss.

So all the makings for a classic especially when you consider some of the terrific matches they’ve played in the past including a memorable 4-4 draw in March 2008.

And one man, who’s played in a few Tottenham vs Chelsea matches is ex-Spurs hotshot Darren Bent.

He played in that eight-goal thriller but when asked about his favourite memories against Chelsea in Spurs colours, other games sprang to Bent’s mind.

Bent also revealed how he would frequently watch Chelsea play as a child as his dad supports them.

Speaking on behalf of GentingBet, Bent said: “Scoring at Chelsea in August 2008, the 1-1, was up there. There was also a time we beat them 1-0 at White Hart Lane in March 2009.

“But of course the best has to be that time when we beat them in the League Cup final in 2008.

“So there were a fair few occasions where we got the better of Chelsea but it was a fixture that I always loved playing.
