Chelsea kit: Blues unveil stunning retro strip to mark 50 years since first FA Cup triumph

Next April will be 50 years since the Blues got the better of Leeds – the final requiring two legs with the second played at Old Trafford.

The initial contest was played at Wembley where the two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw after extra-time.

However, it happened before penalty shootouts were introduced so a second game was required.

It was Chelsea who lifted the trophy, winning the replay 2-1 after extra-time with David Webb bagging the decisive goal.

And to mark the occasion, the club have released a shirt with a modern tweak based on the old classic.

The royal blue colour remains but the shirt sponsor and kit manufacturer is subtly on the design in the same tone.

The badge is a slick design with subtle streaks of gold on the back of the shirt, shorts and socks.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, who was one of the players to model the kit, was very impressed with it.

Mount said: “It’s a classy, stylish and sophisticated shirt – a great way of remembering the iconic team of 1970.
