Wigan off the bottom of the Championship as they hold Blackburn to goalless draw

Goalkeepers Christian Walton and Jamie Jones both made superb saves late on to keep the sides goalless.

Wigan started the game strongly and looked far from a struggling side with Gavin Massey putting some dangerous balls in the box.

Josh Windass beat his man in the 23rd minute and fired the ball across the face of goal but no teammates could get on the end of it.

The two sides went in 0-0 at the break but Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray would not have been happy with the performance he saw.

The half-time team talk seemed to have worked as the home side started linking up better and creating chances.

In the 53rd minute, Danny Graham met Bradley Dack’s deep cross but Wigan were able to clear.

At the other end, Windass had a clear shot on goal from ten yards out but blazed over the bar and it would not have counted anyway because the whistle had already gone.

Blackburn then lost Bradley Dack to a nasty looking knee injury as he went down screaming in agony.

In a frantic 60 seconds, Ryan Nyambe nearly gifted Wigan a chance on goal when his poor back pass was nearly intercepted.

Danny Graham then went up the other end and hit the crossbar from Lewis Holtby’s cross.
