MSU Wrestling to host Augustana Vikings

MANKATO, Minn. — The Minnesota State wrestling team is set to battle the Augustana Vikings at home this Saturday night at 7 p.m. MSU is looking for its first home win this season inside Taylor Center.

The Mavericks are 2-5 on the season and 2-1 in NSIC competition. The Vikings bolster an 8-4 record and stand 2-1 in conference play.

The Mavericks are hoping to stop a five-dual skid as both the Vikings and Mavericks are unranked but were received votes in the latest addition of the NWCA poll.

Looking to keep his match-win streak alive, Adam Cooling (Fr., 157 lbs.) seeks his fifth straight win and has been a key grappler in the middle of the line up all season.

Darick Vancura (Fr., 174 lbs.) looks to rebound after a quick fall eight days ago to Connor Monk (MSU Moorhead). Monk’s pin of Vancura was the key match that ended any chance of a Maverick comeback in their dual with the Dragons.

Following the date with Augustana, MSU will hit the road for two tough NSIC matches when it duals Southwest Minnesota State on February 1st and No. 8 Upper Iowa on February 7th.
