Backstage News On Finn Balor Being Pulled From WWE Smackville

A report from Fightful.com has revealed further details regarding Finn Balor and the decision to pull him from WWE Smackville.

Balor was scheduled to compete against Shinsuke Nakamura for the Intercontinental Championship at the event, but he was eventually replaced by Ali after being sidelined with stomach flu.

According to Fightful.com’s report, Balor was actually at WWE Smackville backstage, with many people being informed for the first time that he had been battling a flu and had been hospitalized as he arrived.

Because of that, WWE opted to pull Balor and use the healthier option of Ali, who WWE had already teased as a challenger for the title previously. WWE officials realized Balor had left when they decided to film a segment where Nakamura took him out, writing him out of the match.

However, the report states that Balor did not know about those plans and there was no malice on his part.

Finn Balor is still scheduled to go one on one with Bray Wyatt at WWE SummerSlam.
