New WWE Extreme Rules Advertising Reveals Match Changes For Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan and More

As of May 31st, local advertising for this year’s WWE Extreme Rules PPV was promoting two big matches for the event taking place on July 15th in Pittsburgh. Advertisements were listing a six-man tag team match with Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman facing Jinder Mahal, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, and Daniel Bryan vs Big Cass.

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, updated advertising in the Pittsburgh area is now listing two new top matches for the event, with the six-man tag team match appearing to have been scrapped. Event advertisements are now promoting Roman Reigns vs Jinder Mahal and Daniel Bryan vs The Miz for Extreme Rules at the PPG Paints Arena.

As we have been reporting for the past couple week, Brock Lesnar is not expected to defend his WWE Universal Title again until SummerSlam, and as of now his rumored opponent at the PPV is Roman Reigns. This would seem to indicate WWE is indeed planning to book Reigns vs Mahal again at WWE Extreme Rules, as the company is using the feud as a holdover until Lesnar returns to work with Reigns again heading into SummerSlam.
