Local Media Reportedly Critical of WWE GRR Segment, Backstage Heat On Corey Graves?, GRR Match Sets Another Record

As noted, WWE announcer Corey Graves posted the following on social media after the WWE Greatest Royal Rumble event:

“A drink to remember that no matter how bad WE think we have it, at least our women have rights and we all have freedom of expression.”

According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Graves had backstage heat on him in WWE, for reasons unknown, prior to making the above remark on social media, which seemed to indicate some kind of displeasure the announcer had with the WWE event in Saudi Arabia.

In other Greatest Royal Rumble news, we noted that WWE 205 Live star Ariya Daivari revealed on Twitter that he received death threats after he participated in an angle, alongside his brother Shawn Daivari, which saw the two waving an Iranian flag in Saudi Arabia. According to The Observer, local media in Saudi Arabia heavily criticized the segment, although the government has yet to issue a response.

Rumble Match Sets Another Record

Finally, in an interesting piece of trivia, The Observer notes the 50 man Greatest Royal Rumble match was the longest Rumble match in WWE history, clocking in at 77 minutes and 17 seconds, and could be considered the longest match in WWE history.
