Presnel Kimpembe injured again in blow for France and PSG
Paris Saint-Germain have announced this morning that Presnel Kimpembe is ruled out of tomorrow’s Champions League group stage clash against Juventus, having picked up an issue on his Achilles heel.
The defender had recently returned to action following a month and a half on the sidelines, having injured his hamstring against Brest in early September. He made his first start since coming back in the 4-3 win over Troyes at the weekend, before being brought off in the second half for Marquinhos.
The news will come as a worry to Didier Deschamps, who already has a growing list of high-profile absentees for France’s World Cup defence, with the likes of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté already confirmed to be out. It remains to be seen for how long Kimpembe’s latest injury will keep him sidelined – Deschamps has indicated he will only be calling up players who are match-fit for the opening game, against Australia on November 22.
Joining Kimpembe in the treatment room this week is Keylor Navas, with the goalkeeper suffering from back pains.
