Despite LOSC teammate Renato Sanches’ impending arrival at San Siro, Milan’s leaders are losing faith in the deal to sign 22-year-old centre-back Botman, despite agreeing on a five-year contract with a €3m net yearly salary with the player.
Last week, Milan made a €30m offer to Lille but they’re falling well short of Newcastle’s €40m bid and, given the form of current centre-back pairing Pierre Kalulu and Fikayo Tomori, Milan could change their plans to sign Botman, despite the defender preferring to join the Italian champions. Manchester United and PSG are also interested in the Dutchman this summer, United had also made an approach this time last year say the outlet.
Milan, meanwhile, could turn their attention to another developing Ligue 1 centre-back instead with Saint-Etienne’s Saïdou Sow (19), Maxime Estève of Montpellier (Milan have been tracking the 20-year-old for much of the year) and Rennes defender Warmed Omari (22) all being considered.
