PLAYER RATINGS | Lyon 1-1 Porto, a focused OL win big tie for Ligue 1

Lyon 1-1 Porto (2-1 agg.), Europa League last 16 second leg – 17/3/22

LYON:

Anthony Lopes, 5

Léo Dubois, 7 – The captain made key contributions at both ends. A superb flicked through ball to assist the opener and a precise sliding tackle as last man before half time stood out.

Castello Lukeba, 6

Thiago Mendes, 5

Emerson Palmieri, 5

Maxence Caqueret, 7 – A joy to watch once more. His tenacious interceptions were key to winning the midfield battle and his passing was often on point and always positive. There’s just something irresistible about the way he drifts around the pitch and skips past opposition players.

Tanguy Ndombele, 6

Karl Toko Ekambi, 6 – His pace and direct style was a danger for Porto, especially early on, and he again offered a dimension no one else in this Lyon side can. Not far from a 7.

Romain Faivre, 4 – Ineffective. Having made a big step up from Brest, Faivre is always neat on the ball while carrying a certain finesse but he’s rarely decisive. Dropping deeper here didn’t help his cause.

Lucas Paquetá, 6

Moussa Dembélé, 6 – Produced a clinical sliding finish for the opener having held off a Porto defender and his movement and persistence was a threat throughout. Oddly withdrawn early.
