“The supporters put across their disappointment,” said the 34-year-old, who recently left MLS club Inter Miami, “but you have to take a step back. Even if two or three individuals stand out from the rest of the team, football is a collective sport. You play as an eleven, not as a pair. You win together and lose together. In his most prosperous years, Messi has been able to make incredible differences, but we forget the players he has around him. The whole PSG team lost. There’s no need to stigmatise some players more than others.”
