PSG have had a series of offers for Ricardo Rodriguez rejected

PSG have a had a pair of offers for Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez rejected, according to our reliable colleagues at Culture PSG.

PSG made an offer worth €23m plus bonuses for the Swiss international in December, which was rejected by Wolfsburg who at the point had no replacement in mind for Rodriguez.

Les Parisiens’ talks with the player’s agent were however going well, to the point that a provisional contract agreement between PSG and the player was very close indeed.

However, at the turn of the year, something seemed to change. PSG’s new offer was actually lower: €18m plus €7m in bonuses. To make up the difference vis-à-vis the previous bid, Les Parisiens offered to loan Rodriguez back to Wolfsburg for the remainder of the current campaign.

Wolfsburg said no, citing the fact that they had an offer worth €20m plus bonuses with the agreement of loan back until the end of the season also from Inter Milan.

PSG appear to have done a U-turn in terms of how concrete their interest is based on the return to fitness of Layvin Kurzawa, or perhaps they are pursuing other targets. In any case, Rodriguez’s arrival now seems unlikely this month, if ever.
